My mother recommends using Pantene Nutrient Blends
My Mother

Everything I know about hair was taught to me by my mother. As a little girl I would dread “hair day” but now as an adult I look back and appreciate how much care she put into my hair. Now that I am a mother myself I am able to utilize all her hair wisdom with my two daughters Jhara and Zara.

My mother has always stressed the importance of keeping my hair moisturized and hydrated so that it can grow and be heathy. Throughout the years I have struggled finding the right products but then I discovered The new Pantene Nutrient Blends Miracle Moisture Boost Collection with Rose Water. This collection is free of sulfates, parabens, dyes and mineral oil and it smells absolutely amazing.

Since I used to dread hair day as a child, I have picked up some tips and tricks along the way, so I decided to explore my “hairitage” and list out a few FAQs that might be helpful for your own family’s hair routine:

What tips would you recommend for maintaining natural hair?

Maintaining natural hair can be stressful if you do not have the proper knowledge and products to get the best results. After years of trial and error I have come to know that keeping natural hair moisturized and hydrated is key. When natural hair is hydrated and moisturized it becomes soft therefore making it easier to manage and reduces breakage. Protective styles like braids, twists, and locs are also great ways to maintain and protect natural hair. Since protective styles typically stay done for a while, it is crucial to use products that nourish the scalp and reduce dandruff.

What products work best for natural hair?

As I mentioned before, natural hair must be kept moisturized, hydrated and soft in order to achieve the best results. I started using the new Pantene Nutrient Blends Miracle Moisture Boost Sulfate Free Shampoo, Conditioner and Treatment with Rose Water. First I use the Rose Water shampoo which provides my hair with Vitamin B5 & B3 leaving it feeling smooth and soft. Then I massage my hair with the Rose Water conditioner which helps lock in moisture. Lastly, I finger comb in the Nutrient Blends Miracle Moisture Boost Petal Soft Hair Treatment which makes my hair easy to detangle, and after 5 mins I thoroughly rinse it out.

How often do you wash your hair?

I perform the above routine every 4 – 6 weeks but I try to co-wash every 2 -3 weeks to keep my hair conditioned and moisturized. Pantene’s Miracle Moisture Boost Treatment with Rose Water serves is a great co-wash option because it contains rose water, and rose water is rich in vitamins that naturally moisturize and condition hair.

How do you maintain your daughter’s curls?

My daughter’s hair can easily become tangled and hard to managed which then results in a negative hair experience. I use Pantene’s Nutrient Blends: Miracle Moisture Boost Collection because each product works together to keep her soft, hydrated and moisturized. After using Pantene’s products I am able to easily comb through and define her curls.

The Castillo Family

My family means everything to me, they are the reason I go so hard in my career. Let me introduce you to my wild multicultural family.

Amirah and Jeff

This is my husband Jeff, he was born in Peru and grew up in Kearny, NJ. Ironically we met each other while playing a Playstation game called Destiny. He and I have a very unique relationship and I definitely would not call it “traditional” but it works so well for us. He makes me laugh and pushes me out of my comfort zone to explore new things. I am so happy that we met and that he is the father of my children.

Jhara Aiko Castillo

This is our first born Jhara. She is our rainbow child and we love her deeply. Jhara is 2 years old and we like to call her a two-nager, because she has the attitude of a teenager. I like to call her my sour patch kid because first she is sour then she is super sweet. She is super affectionate, I believe this is because I breastfed her for almost 2 yrs, so she relies heavily on affection. She is also a signed child model with Kids X Ohlsson.

Zayd Jeff Castillo

This is our middle child Zayd and he has a twin sister. Jeff calls Zayd a “mama’s boy” and for the longest I would deny his allegations because I refuse to raise a spoiled “mamas boy”. But I can no longer deny it, he is my special little man and he is so affectionate and cuddly. Zayd is a lot bigger than his twin sister and now that he is here I definitely see why, he LOVES to eat and sleep.

Zara Amirah Castillo

This is our youngest child Zara; Zayd’s twin sister. This little girl has a special place in my heart that no one is allowed in. She was taken from me at birth and I was not able to hold her or see her in person for 12 whole days. She is such a strong tiny fighter and I admire her so much. Zara has the most beautiful eyes and the hugest smile, she melts my heart so easily.
